Comics Crossed Continua

A continuum line is a useful tool. Two is twice as good. But crossing two continua lines is even better. So much richer in information.

Take this example, from Wired magazine, about web comics. By crossing the Surreal/Real continuum line with the Everyone Welcome/You’re not on the List continuum, you get a rich picture of this growing industry.

Imagine asking students to plot characters in a novel along crossed continua? And produce evidence and reasoning for their placements? You’d get a year’s worth of Bloom’s higher-order thinking all in one lesson!
