Waiter icons

I picked up this handy device my waiter was using at a beach–side café  in Corsica.

It’s a short–hand way of noting down:

  • which particular table is being served
  • which meals are ordered by which people at the table
  • what is the date
  • and who is the waiter.

Below the icons, the waiter writes down the orders, noting which seat number by the side. Simple and very effective.

I asked for an unused copy to show on this blog and had to explain that it was devoted to visual communication. Clara behind the bar agreed just so long as I mentioned it was from Le Sinbad Café at Bodri beach.
