What font should I use?

Schools are awash with what is perhaps the ugliest font available: comic sans. Just read some of the ire about this monster typeface on The Guardian website at: guardian.co.uk

So, as schools are responsible for both effective communication and the aesthetic development of their students, shouldn’t this font be substituted? But which font should you use?
