Linear maps

Yes it is remarkably beautiful. Something you might well hang up on your wall even. It’s more than a couple of hundred years old, but if there were a contemporary version, would you use it?I guess you’d say we do. It’s the Satnav.

For both ancient linear map and current satnav, the same problems prevail: any deviation from the set route and you’re terribly lost. And when successful, little is learned.

A metaphor for teachers simply delivering the curriculum?
